Westad awarded strategic order from LNG terminal in Sweden
Westad Industri AS, a 100% owned subsidiary of Stavanger based Valco Group, received last month an order for cryogenic butterfly valves for the Nynäshamn LNG terminal outside Stockholm (Sweden).
The terminal is owned by AGA Gas AB and the EPC contractor is Cryo AB / Linde. The tank capacity is 20,000 m3 and the LNG will be distributed by truck to the customers.
The contract scope is 74 Cryogenic valves in size from 4 to 12 inches, ANSI class 150 to 600. The valves are of double and triple offset design. The order value is approximately 3 MNOK (0.4 M€) and delivery is scheduled for May 2010.
The terminal is the first of its type in Sweden and will facilitate the utilization of natural gas in Central Sweden. Fortum, among others, will use the natural gas to replace petroleum for city-gas production in Stockholm and the Nynas refinery will use the natural gas in its production of hydrogen gas. The LNG tank will be 33 meters high and 38 meters in diameter and is planned to be completed during the first half of 2010. The terminal and its infrastructure are scheduled to be in operation on May 21, 2011.
